Emerging Medical Innovation Valuation Competition

The DMD Emerging Medical Innovation Valuation Competition is for researchers and inventors to get immediate feedback about their projects from leaders in the fields of medical technology research, engineering & development*. This competition is for inventors (including students, faculty, staff, and corporations) with ideas for new innovations needing investor support to reach the next stage of development.

Initial submissions should be no more than 10 slides summarizing the innovation.

After the judges review all the submissions, they will select finalists to compete in-person during the DMD Conference.

After the presentations, the judges will determine the top three innovations with the greatest return on investment and investment potential. These top three inventors will be awarded a full valuation, including presentation and report from the University of Minnesota’s Medical Valuation Laboratory.

Judges will base their decision on four questions:

1) Can the technology be built and scaled to production?
2) Are the intellectual property and regulatory approach reasonable?
3) Is a viable reimbursement strategy possible?
4) What is the potential and timing for return on investment?

*Keep in mind, this is a public competition with finalists presenting to a large audience, submissions are not treated as confidential.  IP and other sensitive information should be considered prior to submitting.
